times.

The expected QRV dates for the upcoming T31A DXpedition to Kanton Island (Central Kiribati, OC-043) [425DXN 1015] are 18-28 April. An international team of twelve operators (namely EA1IR, K6ZH, N1EMC, N6HC, N7CQQ, N7CW, N9NS, UX2HO, W2IJ, W6KK, W9IXX and YT1AD) will be active on 160-6 metres SSB, CW and RTTY from two operating sites. Two team members will arrive in Apia on 6 April to inspect the equipment shipped from California and operate from 5W as time allows. The entire team will leave Apia on the 13th, and sail approximately four days. QSL via W2IJ, direct or bureau.

Campeonato 2011 de JT6M

La organización jt6m.org organiza un campeonato durante el año 2011 de jt6m. Las reglas son fáciles, valen todos los qsos hechos en jt6m en 50 MHz. Si el qso es por meteor-scatter vale 3 puntos y si el qso se ha realizado en otra modalidad de propagación o es a menos de 500Km entonces vale 1 punto. Para participar hay que introducir los qso realizados en la página web donde también podéis ver la clasificación en tiempo real y los qsos que han realizado todos los concursantes.

Bases:

El “50 RASE Dx Sprint”, es un CAMPEONATO que consta de 3 pruebas conforme a las siguientes bases

Participantes.- Podrán participar todos los radioaficionados del mundo con licencia válida en vigor, conforme a la normativa de su país.
Fechas y horarios.- Todas las pruebas desde las 14.00 UTC hasta las 18.00 UTC.
1º Prueba.- 29 Mayo 2011
2º Prueba.- 12 Junio 2011
3º Prueba.- 10 Julio 2011
Categorías.- SSB, CW o Mixto (SSB/CW)
La potencia máxima será la establecida en cada país. A efectos de clasificación, la ubicación de la estación será la misma durante todo el campeonato. (Mismo Loc)
Controles.- Para que el QSO sea válido ambos operadores han de intercambiar bilateralmente sus indicativos, RST, numeral empezando por 001 y locator completo (tipo IM89TG) (no es necesario intercambiar la hora UTC, pero debe reflejarse en el log)
Sistema de Puntuación.- Pruebas.- Un punto por Kilómetro. El resultado de cada prueba será la suma de todos los puntos válidos obtenidos. No hay multiplicadores.
Clasificación General.- Por cada prueba se otorgará la siguiente puntuación según la clasificación obtenida en su categoría.-
1º- 1000 pts
2º- 900 pts
3º- 810 pts
4º- 730 pts
5º- 660 pts
6º- 600 pts
7º - 550 pts
8º- 510 pts
9º- 480 pts
10º- 460 pts
11º- 450 pts
12º- 441 pts
.... y así sucesivamente hasta el último de la clasificación.
Clasificaciones.- Se establecerán dos grupos clasificatorios. En un grupo estarán todas las estaciones EA (incluidas EA6, EA8 y EA9) y en otro grupo las estaciones Dx, todas ellas clasificadas según la modalidad de participación (SSB, CW, Mixto) A la finalización de cada prueba se establecerá una clasificación provisional, hasta que terminen las tres pruebas programadas. El Campeón saldrá de la suma de las dos mejores puntuaciones en la General. (De las tres pruebas sólo serán válidas a efectos de suma las dos con mejor puntuación)
En caso de empate se resolverá a favor del participante que tenga el mejor contacto Dx.
Para tener acceso a cualquier trofeo es condición indispensable el haber participado en al menos dos pruebas del campeonato.
Cluster.- Está autorizado el uso del cluster pero queda prohibido auto-anunciarse.
Listas.- Obligatoriamente han de enviarse en formato cabrillo a (50sprint@rasedx.com ) no más tarde de 10 días después de cada prueba. Toda lista que llegue fuera de plazo será automáticamente descalificada.
Verificador de listas.- Es responsabilidad de la organización cuya decisión en todo caso será inapelable. Para que una lista sea válida deberá figurar en al menos 2 listas.
Premios.- Ganadores del Campeonato.- Trofeo para los ganadores absolutos de cada categoría, (EA y DX). Diploma especial personalizado para los 2º y 3º clasificados del Campeonato en todas las categorías en formato papel. Del 4º al 10º Diploma personalizado en formato PDF para su auto-impresión. Ganadores de pruebas.- Se concederán Diplomas especiales personalizados con el resultado de su clasificación a los cinco primeros clasificados de cada prueba, en formato PDF para su auto- impresión. Trofeo Especial.- Premio especial para el miembro de RASE Dx con mejor puntuación del campeonato (sea cual sea la categoría donde participa).
Invitación al almuerzo de acto de entrega (socio y un acompañante) y placa. No será acumulable a cualquier otro premio. En caso de ser ganador del Campeonato, el premio pasará al 2º mejor miembro RASE Dx del campeonato.
Descalificaciones.- - Cualquier conducta que la Organización considere antideportiva o irrespetuosa hacia cualquier participante es motivo de descalificación.
- Cualquier acción que incumpla algún apartado de las presentes bases.
Resultados y reclamaciones.- Una vez publicados los resultados provisionales del Campeonato en la web del Grupo RASE Dx, http://www.rasedx.com , se dispone de 5 días para posibles reclamaciones, transcurridos los cuales los resultados serán definitivos.
La participación en el concurso supone la total aceptación de las bases. Las decisiones finales de la organización, transcurrido el plazo de reclamación serán inapelables.

Classifications: There will be two qualifying groups. In one group are all EA stations (including EA6, EA8 and EA9) and another group Dx stations, all classified according to mode of
participation (SSB, CW, Mixed). At the end of each test will establish a provisional classification, until they finish the three races scheduled. The Champion will leave the sum of the two best scores on the General. (The three tests are only valid in order to add the two highest scoring)
In case of a tie will be resolved in favor of the participant with the best contact Dx.
To access any trophy is a prerequisite for having participated in at least two rounds of
the championship.
Cluster: Authorized the use of cluster but it is not self-advertise.
Lists: Compulsorily have to be submitted in Cabrillo format to (50sprint@rasedx.com) no
later than 10 days after each test. Any list that arrives late will be disqualified.
Checker lists: It is the responsibility of the organization whose decision is final in all cases. For a valid list must contain at least 2 lists.
Awards: Championship winners: Trophy for the overall winners in each category (AD and DX). Custom special diploma for the 2 nd and 3 rd ranked Championships in all categories in paper format. From 4 th to 10 th Diploma customized PDF format for self-printing.
Winners of each part: Diplomas will be awarded special customized with the result of their classification at the top five finishers of each event, in PDF format for self-printing.
Special Trophy: Special prize for the member of RASE Dx highest scoring championship (whatever the category in which it participates.) Invitation to luncheon ceremony (partner and a companion) and plate. There is additional to any other prize. In case of winning the championship, the prize will go to the 2 nd best RASE Dx member of the championship.
Disqualifications: Any conduct that the Organization considers unsportsmanlike or disrespectful to any participant is disqualified. Any action in breach of any section of these rules.
Results and claims: Once published the provisional results of the Championship in the Group's website RASE Dx, http://www.rasedx.com, you have 5 days for possible claims, after which the results are final. Participation in the competition implies acceptance of the bases. Final decisions of the organization, within the period of claim will be final.

Nuevo año y más esperanzas de DX en 6 metros

Después de unos meses de escasa actividad y peor propagación en la banda de 6 metros hemos llegado al nuevo año 2011.

Quisiera desearos a todos un feliz año y muchos DX.

Analizando el ciclo solar no parece que podamos ser muy optimistas. Si vemos la evolución en la gráfica nos damos cuenta que, de momento, pinta muy mal, incluso peor que la previsión, por sí ya mala.

Podéis ver que la previsión era estar a estas alturas con flujos de 100, y en cambio raramente hemos superamos los 90s.

La tabla con las últimas previsiones de la NOAA es la siguiente:

Tal como van las cosas calculo que las previsiones están desfasadas un par de meses, por ejemplo, el máximo previsto en Diciembre 2010 era de 99 y ha sido de 91.

He realizado algunas simulaciones de propagación usando el programa VOAProp (28 MHz y low) para que tengáis una idea de qué se podrá trabajar:

Por lo que parece podemos esperar flujos de entre 105 y 110 (SSN=50) para los meses de Marzo y Abril con lo que deberíamos empezar a tener algunas aperturas de en latitudes de 40N permitiendo contactos con Africa. Hay previstas varias expediciones, a ver si hay suerte y los podemos trabajar. Mejores deberían ser los meses de Septiembre y Octubre pues el flujo superará valores de 125.

En dirección Este-Oeste no parece que este año vayamos a tener ninguna posibilidad de aperturas.

Durante los meses de Mayo a Agosto deberemos estar muy atentos a la posibilidad de alcanzar pasos más hacia el Este mediante la combinación de capa E y TEP.

Y por supuesto la capa E multisalto y el modo SSSP (Short-path Summer Solstice Propagation) nos permitirá hacer qsos a larga distancia en el paso Este-Oeste principalmente desde el 15 de Mayo al 15 de Julio.

Mientras tanto siempre nos queda usar el Meteor-Scatter en el modo JT6M o ISCAT para realizar algunos QSOs. Recordad que estos días 3 y 4 tenemos una de las mejores lluvias de meteoritos, las Cuadrántidas, y las condiciones serán magníficas. Para aquellos que quieran probar a escuchar, podéis dejar el receptor en la frecuencia de 50.230 MHz. Si queréis decodificar la señal tendréis que bajaros el programa de WSJT. Si queréis probar alguna cita conectaros al chat de EA7DFH o al chat de ON4KST donde encontraréis corresponsales dispuestos a probar con vosotros. Recordad que los qsos son fáciles con solo 100w y una antena yagi de pocos elementos, así que ... animaros!

Cena V-U-SHF en Barcelona

Ayer celebramos la cena mensual de amigos de V-U-SHF en Barcelona. Esta vez tuvimos varios invitados que venían de lejos, EA1BLA, EA6FB y F5BUU, con los cuales compartimos charla especialmente sobre las microondas (1.2 GHz y superiores).

Además Jean Claude, F5BUU, nos deleitó con una presentación con la expedición a D44 y CT del pasado verano en la cual batieron el record mundial de distancia en la banda de 10 GHz con 2.696 Km.

Sierra Leona 9L qrv 6m

In close cooporation between the DAGOE Foundation, Mercy Ships, 4 Dutch and 1 Liberian radio amateur will run a Radio Project from Sierra Leone. They will be on-site in Freetown between March 15th and April 4th using the amateur radio callsign 9L5MS.

Operatoes are Arie (PA3A), Ad (PA8AD), Dickson (EL2DT) and Arie (PA8AN) , they have participated in the Liberia 2007 5L2MS Radio Project, and both Ad (PA8AD) and Bas (PD0CAV) participated in 2009 Benin TY1MS Radio Project. All Dutch participants are member of the Dordtse Elektronica Club often found in contests using PI4DEC or PI4D.

Quería probar SOSB 160 después de salir en 40 y 80 los años 2009 y 2007. Precisamente en el 2008 puse una vertical de 30 metros de hilo en casa para probar 160m y fue un desastre por el ruido ambiental. Así que decidí ir al qth portable en el delta del río Ebro. Se trata de una pequeña casa rural rodeada de arrozales, con el mar a 300 metros al norte y a 2 Km. al este. El único inconveniente es que hay que ir y montarlo todo antes del concurso y desmontarlo al día siguiente.

Llegué el jueves por la mañana a primera hora con mi padre, EA3LL, que me iba a ayudar a instalar las antenas y hacerme compañía durante el contest. Nos encontramos un día espléndido, sol, 14 grados, y lo dedicamos a instalar la antena de transmisión. Una vertical de 24 metros de altura ( 16 metros de mástil telescópico y una caña de fibra de vidrio de 8 metros arriba ) cargada con dos hilos en forma de T. Pusimos una tierra en el arrozal y tiramos 8 radiales de 20 metros de longitud. Medimos impedancia y fenomenal, 18 ohms un poco más que los 15 ohms previstos con el eznec. Con un acoplador home-build con bobina variable y con condensadores de vacío la dejamos en un momento con SWR de 1.0:1, fenomenal.

Por la noche al probarla empecé a ver lo que iba a ser un problemón. En recepción tenía entre s9 y s9+10 de ruido, mucho más de lo previsto, yo esperaba que estuviera sobre s5 máximo. De hecho nunca había visto ruido en este qth ni en 40 ni en 80. Como al día siguiente íbamos a instalar la antena de rx no le di mayor importancia y nos fuimos a dormir.

La noche del jueves al viernes empezó a soplar el viento con rachas de más de 100 Km./h. Por la mañana al levantarnos nos encontramos la sorpresa de que la caña de fibra de vidrio se había roto en la base y estaba colgando del mástil. Como que el viento no arreciaba no era posible bajar el mástil para repararla, con lo que decidí dejar radiando solo el mástil de 16m. No iba a ser lo mismo pero no tenía elección.

Para recepción este año instalamos una loop en forma de delta (podéis verla en el libro de ON4UN). Otros años he instalado beverages que habían funcionado muy bien a pesar de la buena tierra. Pero con poco tiempo pensé en algo más pequeño y fácil de instalar, porque... alguno de vosotros ha andado sobre arrozales??? No os lo recomiendo :-(

Efectivamente los temores se cumplieron. Con la antena de rx tenía ruido de S5 que impedía escuchar nada o casi nada que no fueran señales fuertes. A veces subía a S7 y ocasionalmente se paraba durante pocos minutos. Sigo sin tener idea de qué podía ocasionar el ruido. En 80 también había un poco de ruido pero mucho menos. En 40 limpio limpio limpio. Tanto en 80 como en 40 la antena de rx iba de maravilla.

Con esta situación empecé el contest en Search&Pound, o sea llamando a quienes escuchaba. Cuando bajaba el ruido intentaba llamar CQ, pero no escuchaba a las estaciones más flojas. El 95% de QSOs fue buscando y contestando.

Al final 564 QSOs, con 70 NA, 9AS y 8 AF. Muy lejos de las expectativas de superar los 1000 QSOs y 300 NA que esperaba conseguir.

De todas maneras, lo importante ha sido disfrutar de unos días de radio, sin pensar en nada más, y con la compañía de mi padre con el que pude charlar horas y horas de futuros planes, eso sí, todo pendiente de los euro millones :-)

A team of operators plan to activate Jarvis Island (OC-081, USi OI005S, WFF KFF-115, Grid Loc. AI99) as N5E between 17 November and 1 December 2010. Applications for the required government permits have been submitted to the US Fish & Wildlife Service, but final approval has not yet been received. Plans call for 24-25 operators to continuously staff 12 stations on CW, SSB and RTTY on 160m through 6m. (No 60m operations are planned). CQWW DX CW Contest operations are included. Good news from ZL8X team:

"In the last weeks we decided to take some 6m equipment with us which will organized by ZL hams. The spare station will serve from the beginning as the 6m station. Besides a K3 and an ACOM 1000 it will contain a 5 element yagi and a rotator being put on a 10m mast. We are not sure what we can expect on the magic band but we will run the station as a beacon whenever possible, we will put the station near the cafeteria where there is always anyone available and we will watch the DX cluster network for possible openings. Equipped with a BGAN modem for Inmarsat we have the possibility to be online in the DX cluster 24/7 to get an immediate feedback of our operation from our audience."

A German team made up of Matthias/DL5MFL, Juergen/DL4MAQ and Sven/DF9MV are planning to be active from Senegal between November 8-18th. 6V7Z callsign is being requested and will be released when available. The group will be guests of Francois 6W7RV, at the "Le Calao" resort and will do a "dedicated holiday style" operation. Look for Juergen/ DL4MAQ and Sven/DF9MV to be active mostly on CW while Matthias/DL5MFL will be on SSB. The team wants to have two stations on the air simultaneously, the main activity will be on CW and SSB, possibly some PSK31. They will have beams for 20/15/10/6 meters, a 4-square for 40 meters and also a vertical for 160/80/40 meters. For 30/17/12 meters they will use wire antennas. PJ2T (FK52) Activity on HF and 6m

Jeff K8ND and Bill W9VA, will be on a ham vacation to the Signal Point contest station on the island of Curacao (SA-006, WLOTA 0942, WW Loc. FK52KG) on 8-18 October 2010. They will sign PJ2T, and possibly PJ2/homecall. QRV on all HF bands, plus 6 metres.

QSL via home calls and LoTW. QSL PJ2T via N9AG and LoTW.

Note: The station (PJ2T) will be opened to amateurs participating in the GAREC conference (11-12 October), as well as to any local Curacao amateurs who wish to operate from Signal Point during the post 10-10-10 week. The PJ2T callsign will be used beginning at 0400Z on 10 October 2010, when the Netherlands Antilles is dissolved and Curacao becomes an autonomous country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands (and likely a new DXCC Entity).

S9 SAO TOME QRV 6m 4-17 February 2011

DD2ML, DF1AL, DK1AX, DL2JRM, DL7VEE, DM2AYO and DM5TI will be active as S9DX from Ilheu das Rolas (AF-023), Sao Tome on 4-17 February 2011. Nueva versión de WSJT 9.0

Ya está disponible en la web una nueva versión del software WSJT.

Joe, K1JT, informa que ya se puede descargar de su web la versión beta 9.0. Esta versión incluye un nuevo modo llamado ISCAT que está pensado para sustituir al JT6M, usado principalmente en meteor-scatter en 6 metros; vuelve a incluir el modo ECHO, pensado para probar los ecos haciendo rebote lunar; algunas nuevas funciones y mejoras para FSK441; posibilidad de uar 15 segundos como periodo en FSK441 e ISCAT; plantillas de mensajes mejorados para FSK441 e ISCAT; cálculo del doppler en rebote lunar mejorado; y algunos cambios para simplificar el interfase de usuario.

AO3T nuevo record EA en el CQ WW DX CW en 40 metros

Ya han publicado los resultados del concurso CQ WW DX CW del año 2009 y después de 3 intentos he conseguido batir el record de España en la banda de 40 metros. Después de las correcciones pertinentes he conseguido 697.632 puntos con 2.627 contactos y 156 multiplicadores. Al final terminé 8º de Europa, lástima que perdí 3 horas por una tormenta el domingo por la tarde donde perdí un buen número de qsos y de multiplicadores de Asia.

El concurso lo realicé desde mi QTH, y para la ocasión instalé una moxon (15 m de largo x 7 m de ancho) en la torre telescópica que sube a 23 metros de altura sobre el suelo (más los de la colina en la que estoy son unos 35 metros efectivos de altura hacia JA y hacia W, incluso un poco más hacia el norte, podéis verlo en la galería de fotos en la carpeta "Antenes 6m"). El equipo es un icom ic756pro2 y el amplificador un ACOM1000.

Enhorabuena a mi gran amigo Julio EA3AIR, que desde Ibiza salió como EA6IB y se ha clasificado 6º de Europa.

Es mi tercer record después de conseguir los de 20 metros (año 2004), 80 metros (año 2006). Mi próximo objetivo será batir el de 160 metros, en poder de otro buen amigo mío, Jorge, EA2LU, desde el año 2006, con 166.098 puntos (1240 contactos y 94 multiplicadores). Para ello saldré como AO3T desde el delta del ebro, muy cerca del mar y un fantástico suelo donde instalaré una vertical top loaded de 26 metros de altura y usaré algunas loops de recepción.

CT1JLZ (OK1RF) Jiri una 3 elementos a 24 metros de altura (seguramente muy buen qth y saca ventaja de estar casi 1000Km más cerca de USA que desde aquí), LY8O con 2x2 el moxon y una 4 elementos KLM, OH2BH operada por OH1WZ una 4 elementos a 48 metros de altura y 2+2 a 42 metros de altura, OL0W 4 elementos KLM a 21 metros de altura, impresionante!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gracias a todos los que me contactais en los concursos. Espero repetir el QSO en el próximo que se celebra los dias 27 y 28 de Noviembre.

Recordad que el año 2011 no dispondremos de los prefijos especiales para los concursos, así que será una de las últimas oportunidades para trabajar este prefijo especial "AO3".

CU en el CQWWDX CW 2010

V6 qrv 6m 24 - 28 November

Takuto Yoshida, JE1SCJ will operate as V63YT from Pohnpei (OC-010), Micronesia on 24-28 November, including activity during the CQ WW DX CW Contest (but he will have to QRT around 9 UTC on Sunday because of his flight schedule). He plans to be QRV on 160-6m mostly CW, with some SSB, RTTY and PSK31, using 100 watts, wire antennas and a yagi for 6m. Outside the contest he will focus on 160, 30, 17 and 12 metres. Suggested frequencies are 1824 (QSX up/down), 3510 (QSX up), 7010, 10110, 14010,18080, 21010, 24900, 28010 and 50090 kHz. QSL via JE1SCJ, direct or bureau. [TNX JE1SCJ][425 DX News #1009].
