Info seen in several bulletins, Jimmy W6JKV will do a new 6m dx-expedition. This summer he will go to FS, Saint Martin. Will be as FS/W6JKV June 22-July 2.

Jim, WB2REM and Glenn, KD2JA will be operating the special call VQ5M from the Turks and Caicos Islands from June 11 until June 13 2010 during the ARRL June VHF Contest. This operation will be from Providenciales Island (FL31VS) (NA-002). Operation for the contest will be on 6 meters SSB and CW only. Other than the contest operation, from June 10 until June 17, Jim and Glenn will be operating on 160-6 Meters, CW and SSB with their respective calls, VP5/WB2REM and VP5/KD2JA. MERCAHAM RADIO 2010

Este fin de semana se realiza la feria de radioaficionados más importante del suroeste de europa, la MERCAHAM RADIO 2010.

Se celebra en Cerdanyola, cerca de Barcelona, en el Polideportivo Guiera, que tiene unas extraordinarias instalaciones de hasta 3000 m2 de zona de exposición, salas de conferencias, bar y un enorme parking.

Hace ya 26 años que se realiza, como pasa el tiempo.

This morning i get up early and have a nice open to Asia, first i heard EY8MM with s5, and after some minutes i worked at 05.08 gmt XV1X (OL21) on 50.081 with incredible good signals s5 to s9.

I was looking for DU and BY and at 05.33 gmt BA7IO started just over noise and worked him for new one # 163 on 6m.

Sorry i had to qrt after it going to work, conditions were great for DX to Asia at that moment.

I will try tomorrow again, still need to work HL, DU, BV and other dxcc.

At 18.11 i have worked the expedition to JT, signal appeared for 30 seconds, enough to exchange 599 both ways, qrg 50.113.

It's my dxcc # 162 on the band.

Missed today some other dx as 9K2YM who i heard very well on bpsk and cw. I have to practice a bit more bpsk, i never thougth i would need to use this mode on 6m....

EX8MLT, EX8MLE have been also worked this morning by several stations as well as EY8MM and UK8OM.

NEW INFORMATION FROM 3C0C WEB

We know the importance of an activation in 160m from the island of Annobón.
The operators have undertaken a great effort, both physical as financial, in preparing this Expedition but, unfortunately, for reasons beyond our control, we have been unable to go in April.

We will head to the island of Bioko the following Thursday, 3rd of June and we will begin our activities the next day as 3C9B. We will spend as much time as possible on the radio. There we will pick up our supplies to live on the island of Annobón for 14 days.

On the 7th of June our airplane will leave for Annobón, and, when everything is ready, we will start the Expedition as 3C0C.

Our pilot, EA5YN and EC4DX will announce on the Web all the news as they happen, as well as the times when we will be listening in 160m.

We also want to inform you that we will be taking a yagi antenna with 5 elements for 50 Mhz.

Any comments from you will be well received by our pilot ea5yn and ec4dx.

NUEVA INFORMACION DE LA WEB DE 3C0C

Sabemos la importancia de una activación en la banda de 160m desde la isla de Annobón.
Los operadores hemos realizado un gran esfuerzo, tanto físico como económico en preparar esta Expedición, pero lamentablemente por causas ajena a nuestra voluntad no hemos podido ir en el mes de Abril.

Saldremos hacia la isla de Bioko el próximo jueves día 3 de Junio y empezaremos la actividad al siguiente día como 3C9B.
Estaremos todo el tiempo que podamos en radio, aquí recogeremos todas nuestras provisiones para vivir en la isla de Annobón durante 14 días.

3/6 al 8/6 JT MONGOLIA -Actualizado

Los operadores UA9YAB, RW9YW y UA9YPS, estarán activos desde Mongolia con los indicativos JT0YAB, JT0YW y JT0YPS, desde Khoton Nuur Lake, Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, del 3 al 8 de junio. La operación va a ser muy dificultosa debido a las nieves y al mal tiempo reinante, saldrán con 100 watts en todos las bandas y modos, con un dipolo, una A3 y una 5 elementos yagi para los 6 metros, donde pondrán su máximo empeño. Estarán también QRV desde el coche a partir de la frontera mongol con el indicativo JT0YAB/M.

AO3T - WPX CW 2010

Pues ya terminó el concurso. Como os dije en otro post, salí en monoperador monobanda en 10m y la propagación fue magnífica. El sábado la banda estuvo abierta casi todo el día mientras que el domingo se cerró durante dos horas al mediodía, para luego abrirse de nuevo hasta las 18.30 gmt.

En total 30 horas de apertura esporádica en las que el resultado ha sido de:

Today i have installed my little 10m moxon, and will be QRV as AO3T next CQ WPX CW contest.

Last year i had a great contest with 800+ qsos and i hope condx will be better this year.

EA PTT said in January that this 2010 is last year we will be able to use AM, AN, AO prefixes in contest. If you need these prefixes look for them !

Hoy he instalado mi pequeña moxon para 10 metros para participar en el WPX del fin de semana próximo. La podéis ver encima de la 7 el. para 50MHz.

Al igual que el año pasado estaré activo como monooperador monobanda en 10 metros con el indicativo especial AO3T. El año pasado fue genial con 800 qsos. Espero que este año vaya todavía mejor.

Parece que este año 2010 es el último que Telecomunicaciones va a permitir usar los prefijos AM, AN, AO en los concursos internacionales, así que ya sabéis, si todavía no lo has trabajado tienes una nueva oportunidad.

50MHz condx report week 19/2010

Solar activity has been very low this week from May 10th to 16th and no F2 layer conditions reported. Guess will have to wait until September to have again openings.

E layer openings have been around every day in EU and some conditions to Middle East (A7, A9) and Caribe. No openings to NA yet (btw first condx on May 17 and 18).

Durante la semana del 10 al 16 de Mayo la actividad solar ha sido muy baja y no hemos visto ninguna apertura de capa F2. Creo que hasta después del verano no volveremos a verlas.

Por capa E se han producido aperturas a diario con Europa y algunas pocas hacia Medio Oriente (A7, A9) y Caribe. Todavía no se ha abierto ningún dia hacia Norteamérica (aunque los días 17 y 18 se abrió ya desde EA8 y EA7).

JT MONGOLIA

UA9YAB/Alex y RW9YW/Vasili, estarán activos desde Mongolia del 25 de mayo al 2 de junio con los indicativos JT9YAB y JT9YW, la operación será toda ella desde un coche, equipado con todas las comodidades posibles, lo harán en todas las bandas HF y con énfasis en 6 metros. La razón de hacer esta expedición en un vehículo se debe a que irán probando localidades donde realizar una segunda actividad en el mes de octubre-noviembre, ésta con preferencia en los 80 y 160 metros

PA7JWC/Jan-Willem, está pasando sus vacaciones en Pereybere, Mauricio, (AF-049) hasta el 22 de Mayo,

1S SPRATLY ISLANDS

Gran número de expedicionarios estarán activando Spratly Islands, concretamente desde Pag-Asa Island en enero del próximo año, el equipo de momento estará compuesto por 25 operadores de ellos tres españoles:

4F1OZ, 4F8BOF, DU1EV, DV1DIN, DV9XO, EA1DR, EA2TA, EA3NT, F4BKV, JA8BMK, K5YY, N6HC, N6OX, SMOMDG, VK2FXGR, VK2GR, VK3FGRC, VK3FNIK, VK3FT, VK3FY, VK3FZ, VK3PC, VK6YS, VK8NSB y W6KK, operarán con el indicativo DX0DX, su actividad será de 10 a 160 metros más 6 y 2 metros y 70 y posiblemente 23 centímetros en CW, SSB, RTTY y PSK31. Las fechas que se barajan es empezar el 6 de enero hasta el 22 de enero. El mes próximo VK3FY/Cris, viajará a Palawan, Filipinas, para concretar el viaje de los expedicionarios.

50MHz condx report week 18/2010

Solar activity has been very low this week from May 3rd to 9th and F2 layer conditions have dissapeared, we need solar flux higher than 85 to have some good openings. Forecast for next week is similar with 75-80 values. As we get close to summer conditions will be poorer.

E layer openings have been much better and we have had openings all the days, usually with central-south european stations. Best DX heared or reported :

May 3rd: KP4EIT
May 5th: 6W1SJ
May 8th: OA4TT (E layer+ F2 layer ???)
May 9th: A92IO, 9Y4D, FY1FL, FM5AA, etc.

Next week will have better E openings most days up to 2.500Km and some multi hop openings up to 4.000 - 6.000 Km, best conditions from EA7 and EA8 to Caribe, and worse in the east side, EA3, EA5, EA6. More chances to have some opening from CT/EA8/EA7 to USA & Canada.

Look for some expeditions starting this week (see "Calendari DX 6m" page) : OH0 and TL. Robert S53R is back in Sudan and will be active on 6m as ST2AR, too.

Durante la semana del 3 al 9 de Mayo la actividad solar ha sido muy baja y con ello las posibilidades de capa F2 han disminuido radicalmente hasta casi desaparecer, pues para tener algunas condiciones es necesario tener flujo solar superior a 85. La previsión para esta próxima semana es de flujo solar entre 75 y 80, y a medida que nos acercamos al verano, las posibilidades de nuevas aperturas de capa F2 disminuyen.

Por contra la capa E ha empezado a mejorar y se han producido aperturas todos los días de la semana, normalmente con estaciones europeas. Destacamos esta semana:

día 3: KP4EIT
día 5: 6W1SJ
día 8: OA4TT (capa E+ capa F2 ???)
día 9: A92IO, 9Y4D, FY1FL, FM5AA, etc.

Para la próxima semana del 10 al 17 de Mayo podemos esperar aperturas de más duración hasta los 2.500Km y más cantidad de aperturas con multi-salto entre 4.000 y 6.000 Km, más posibilidades desde EA7-EA8 con Caribe y más ocasionalmente en el resto de EA con menos aperturas en EA3, EA5, EA6. Es probable que la capa E suba de latitud y permita alguna apertura con Estados Unidos/Canada.

Las expediciones que empiezan esta semana que se pueden trabajar desde EA son: OH0 y TL (ver página "Calendari DX 6m"). También ha vuelto a Sudán después de unos días de vacaciones ST2AR , Robert - S53R y volverá a estar activo en 6m.

50MHz condx report week 17/2010

i`ve been quite busy and travelling and i couldn't write my usual weekly report before. Anyway conditions have been quite poor with no reports for F2 layer and some sporadic-E openings in EU and EA8. Starting May we should expect less F2 TEP openings and have more openings and some multihop openings soon.

Solar activity has been very low to low levels in last week and predictions are to have solar flux between 80 and 85 from May 3rd to May 9th.

He estado bastante ocupado por el trabajo, viajes y no he estado muy activo que digamos. Siento no haber escrito el resumen antes, pero mejor tarde que nunca!. De todas maneras las condiciones de propagación de la semana pasada han sido más bien pobres, sin señales de capa F2 y con pocas esporádicas. Quizás la mejor el día 27 con varias horas de propagación entre EA y EA8. Entrando ya en el mes de Mayo deberíamos tener menos aperturas de capa F2 TEP y empezar a disfutar de más aperturas de capa E y algunas de ellas multisalto con el Caribe.

La actividad solar ha sido muy baja la pasada semana y las predicciones no son muy esperanzadoras, con un flujo solar previsto desde el 2 de Mayo al 9 de Mayo con valores de entre 80 y 85.

Jan DJ8NK and Paul F6EXV are happy to announce their upcoming joint adventure as follows, Callsign: TL0A (guest operation at Christian’s station). 2 stations on simultaneously. Dates : 13th to 26th of May Modes : big emphasis on RTTY by Jan, and CW by Paul, Chris will continue his SSB operation and CW/RTTY from time to time after 26th of May. Bands: 40 through to 6m, maybe some 80/160 (late in the season for low bands, plus it is the rainy season in TL with daily storms). Standard DX frequencies, always SPLIT. 50MHz condx report week 16/2010

Period April 19th to April 22th is usually the beginning of Sporadic E season. We have had several openings inside EU and conditions will improve every day. As I reported before, highlight has been an opening yesterday afternoon between EA3 and A9 when I worked A92IO. It was a big surprise as is not usual to have double hop so early in the season. Dave, A92IO, was in for 30 minutes with signals between 419 and 529.

F2 Layer is not improving as solar flux doesn't want to increase and has been lower than 80. More to say, sun spots have been zero quite a number of days. But there have been good openings two or three days, all them at the southern mediterranean area (nothing here, only good video signals on 48.250)

No new stations heard, seen on cluster or reported: active ones TN5SN, TR8CA, Z22JE, D44TD.

On saturday i heard C37NL calling cq on 50.110. Hope C3 club station at 1800 m asl have more activity from now on.

Forecast for next week from EA:

• Solar flux at 75 - 85 level.
• F2 layer Nort-South below 40N: 50%.
• F2 layer North-South above 40N: 10%.

En el periodo del 19 al 25 de Abril acostumbra a empezar la temporada de esporádica en 50 Mhz. Ya se han producido varias aperturas dentro de Europa y las condiciones mejoran día a día. Como reporté ayer, el destacado ha sido la apertura entre EA3 y A9 de ayer tarde, que me permitió trabajar a A92IO. Fue una gran sorpresa porque no es habitual trabajar multi salto tan al inicio de la temporada. Dave llegó durante casi 30 minutos con señales entre 419 y 529.

La capa F2 no mejora pues el flujo solar está bajísimo, parece que el sol se haya tomado unas pequeñas vacaciones después del primer esfuerzo del ciclo. Las manchas solares han sido casi toda la semana cero cero cero cero.... Así y todo se han producido aperturas desde el mediterraneo sur con las estaciones habituales: TN5SN, TR8CA, Z22JE, D44TD.

A destacar que el sábado escuché llamando a C37NL en 50.110 cw. Espero que salga muchas más veces esta temporada y que desde el qth del club a 1800 m snm pueda hacer muchos qsos.

Worked today at 18.18 utc A92IO on 6 meters for my dxcc # 159. Think it is first A9-EA on 6m.

Trabajado hoy a las 18.18 utc A92IO en 6 metros. Es mi pais del dxcc nr. 159 y el primero nuevo que consigo este año 2010. Dave trabaja con una antena de 5 el y un ACOM 1000. Estuvo entrando cerca de media hora con señales 419 y picos de señal de 529. Supongo que es el primer contacto entre A9 y EA en la banda.

50 MHz condx report week 15/2010

Sunday evening and nil on the band. Solar activity has been very low this week with flux under 80s. Anyway this is The Magic Band and there has been some good openings, most below 40N latitude as usual, from EA5,EA6,EA7 and EA8 with Africa and South America. Two new stations reported this year, TL0A and 9J2BO, both well known and worked last years. More interesting is hearing again activity from Ascension Island, EA8AK worked ZD8RH on April 17th.

There has been some sporadic-E openings, on April 15th a big one between EA and EA8 did the first hop to arrive at F2 layer and EA3LL worked PP5XX.

Forecast for next week from EA:

• Solar flux at 75 - 85 level.
• F2 layer Nort-South below 40N: 50%.
• F2 layer North-South above 40N: 10%.

Domingo por la tarde y no se oye nada de nada. La actividad solar ha sido muy baja toda la semana con flujo solar por debajo de 80. A pesar de ello ésta es la Banda Mágica y se han producido algunas aperturas, la mayoría por debajo de la latitud 40N, desde EA5, EA6, EA7, EA8 con Africa y Suramérica. Dos nuevas estaciones han sido reportadas esta semana TL0A y 9J2BO, ambas conocidas y trabajadas anteriormente. Quizás lo más interesante es que hay nueva actividad desde la Isla de la Ascensión, EA8AK trabajó a ZD8RH el 17 de Abril.

Han aparecido las primeras aperturas por esporádica E, como la del día 15 que duró varias horas entre EA y EA8. Esta apertura hizo de enlace con la capa F2 y permitió a EA3LL trabajar a PP5XX.

Previsión para la próxima semana desde EA:

• Flujo Solar entre 75 - 85.
• Capa F2 Norte-Sur por debajo latitud 40 N: 50%.

50 MHz condx report week 14/2010

Solar activity has been very low this week and is expected to be very
low next days, with a chance for C-class events during 07-14 April. 
As Region 1059 and new Region 1061 (N14, L=232, class/area Dso/050 on 5 April)
rotate off the visible disk. Predicted values from

There have been 50 MHz reports from southern Europe to the usual active stations and beacons,
and interesting ones were 3B8MM and FR1GZ in southern Italy, and V51PJ and
ZS6WAB from southern Italy and southern Spain.

Nothing interesting higher than 40ºN latitude, and i don't expect any better conditions
next week if sun doesn't surprise us with an increase of activity.

This week we have seen first sporadic E reports from EA6 to YU. We may expect one 
opening per week until May.


La actividad solar ha sido muy baja esta semana y se espera que sea muy
baja los próximos días, con una oportunidad de evento clase C entre los dias
07-14 de abril. Las previsiones indican un flujo solar entre 75 y 80 para las dos
próximas semanas con lo que no mejorará la propagación en la banda de 6m por capa F2.

Se han reportado contactos desde el sur de Europa con las estaciones habitualmente
activas y las balizas africanas, destacamos desde el sur de Italia con
3B8MM y FR1GZ, y desde EA6 con V51PJ y ZS6WAB.

Nada interesante por encima de 40º de latitud Norte, y no espero ningún tipo de
condiciones en F2 para las próximas semanas a menos que el sol no nos sorprenda con
un aumento de actividad.

Esta semana hemos visto los primeros qsos en esporádica E desde EA6 con YU. 
Se puede esperar una apertura a la semana hasta mayo y a partir de entonces mejorará
paulatinamente hasta llegar a las mejores semanas en el periodo del 1/6 al 15/7.

Al mediodía de hoy (9 de abril) Navacerrada ha finalizado las emisiones en el canal 2 de VHF, dejando limpia la banda de seis metros en toda la zona centro de EA.

KP4AO can be heard with a small hand-held yagi pointed at the moon, and a good receiver. A 15 dBi antenna and 100 W will be enough to work us on CW.

Operators at KP4AO will do their best to work as many stations as possible. Each session will start with a brief announcement and CQ in SSB. SSB QSOs may continue for 30 minutes to an hour, if the QSO rate remains high. The mode will be shifted to CW as soon as it is judged that higher QSO rates would result.

We will listen for calls at frequencies 5-15 kHz higher than our own, and even higher if QRM warrants. Callers who s-p-r-e-a-d o-u-t are more likely to be copied.

If you've already worked us in any mode, please do not call again -- give others a chance.

If we call "CQ QRP", we will listen for stations running 100 W or less to a single yagi. Please do not answer such a CQ if you are running more power or have a larger antenna.

On April 18, if we reach a condition where most calling stations have been worked, and we judge that operating in the digital mode JT65B would produce a higher QSO rate, we will switch to JT65B.

Note that any of these planned operating strategies may be changed as circumstances dictate.

We are extremely fortunate to have been granted access to the world's largest radio telescope for this amateur radio good-will event. We look forward to working as many stations as possible in the alloted time!
